Guide to Contributing Lore

Please note that Lore is a collaborative effort by the community's writers to create a more engaging world outside the metal husk we call a space station. The purpose of lore is not to reinforce or otherwise encourage hatred or exclusion between players, or groups of players. Please note that all lore contained herein are not OOC rules and are expected to be the framework on top of which you make your character, and tell your story. At the end of the day, we want you to be able to create a character you enjoy-- lore should not get in the way of that.

Lore Primer

The year is 2564. As a first, you're a Citizen of The Galactic Federation, which you call your home for the time being (and most likely for the rest of your life). You work for Nanotrasen aboard a Minor Space Port / Colony after you signed a contract with Nanotrasen for whatever your reasons were. Typically employees are any range of students, veterans, criminals, hermits, and businessmen. Everyone has their reasons for working here, and most are oftentimes lured in with benefits and opportunities for the future.

Another thing you're briefed on routinely is the threat of the Syndicate in the sector you work in. The station you work in is a high-value target for Syndicate agents working to sabotage or steal high-value info on future Nanotrasen plans. Most Syndicate Agents masquerade as crew members, and you're always taught to remain vigilant to Syndicate behaviours.

When it comes to The Federation, the little you remember from your history classes (unless you've done more extensive research), is that The Federation was founded in The Core and the capital is called The Heart, a massive space station housing the grand Senate building, with almost a hundred colony stations orbiting around it. The nation is home to thousands of planets, with seats in the senate distributed by population, most planets getting 1 or 2 seats, with the most populous planets getting even more. Elections run every 5 years.

Layed on the conscious of many citizens is the rivaling nations to the Federation, particularly the New Russian Imperium (NRI) and the Dominions of the Soatii Empire, a evangelical theocratic Empire from another part of the galaxy. Typically, civillians need not worry of attacks from the Soatii, but the Russians are known to send marauders to loot corporate stations and act as organized Pirates. Don't fret, though, the Federation never sleeps and bands of marauders typically don't last long when Federal Cruisers are nearby.

Needless to say, good luck on the job.

Factions

There are a large collection of nations and factions, from massive empires to coporations to small planetary organizations that fend off the larger players in the universe for independence, there are a monumental amount of collectives that exist in the Known Universe. Sectors

According to the "Atlas of the Known Galaxy, 2560 Edition", a Sector of space, as agreed upon by the major power blocs and their astrographics governing bodies, is a large area of several light-years, typically containing multiple Star Systems, Nebula Systems, and similar collections of celestial bodies. As most polities organize operations at the Sector or System level, it is often important to consider the affairs of the Known Galaxy at these scales.

Sector C7
Life is loud.

Main Planets:

Adasta - An urbworld with too many plasma refineries.

St. Mungo - Space Brazil. Frequent storms and thick brush.

Minor planets, dwarf planets or asteroids:

Indecipheres - Literally hell.

Freyja - Hell froze over. Orbits Indecipheres.

Moon Station

Sol Sector

Main Solar Planets:

Sol - Main human world

Mars - If Hong Kong and Macau were an entire planet

Venus -

Minor planets, dwarf planets or asteroids:

Pluto - Turns out, French people love it here.

Heartworlds Sector

Most of the Galactic Federation Space is situated around the Heart Worlds, an intergalactic dead zone only kept afloat by massive investment into waystations and associated infrastructure, intended to ease travel between the various states of the Federation. At the center of the Heart Worlds, lies their capital, Khan, a supermassive gas giant seated precariously close to the black hole, Luemon's Gash, at the center of the system. It houses much of the apparatus of state of the Galactic Federation in sub-orbital installations-- veritable floating cities, and despite scientists' concerns that even a slight deviation to the course of the gas giant will result in the entire apparatus of state disappearing into the hole, it is one of the safest places to live in the Universe. Many major companies have their main headquarters here.

Main Heartworld planets:

Khan - Massive gas giant. Capital of the Heart Worlds.

Minor planets, dwarf planets or asteroids:

Amyorlaya - Bioluminescent flora/fauna

Jex'ous - Smells like cat piss, ammonia atmosphere

Idoskas - Lots of sulphur

Rizkalon System

Almighty Rizaklon, the Sun-Queen, lifegiver and mother to all. The Rizkalon system is similar to Sol in many ways, acting as the centre of the vast lizard empire, as well as being the most densely populated and industrialised system under lizardkind's umbrella. It's also the safest region of lizard space due to the presence of the Imperial Navy. Interestingly, Rizkalon also shows relatively extensive precursor activity in the further reaches, dated millenia back.

Main Rizkalon planets:

Tizira - Capital of the Tiziran Empire. A rugged, arid planet with limited farmland and shallow seas.

Sulya - A frozen planet with lots of hot springs. Hot spring water piped under streets and heated jumpsuits are used to keep lizards warm, here.

Merina - Dead, baking planet. So hot even lizards can't live here.

Viomea - A nearly inhospitable ship graveyard, full of vessels left behind by a precursor civilization. Trawled by Scavengers.

Rumors

Rumors have been spreading the last few months, that speak of an unknown species being sighted near Federation Space. NT would like to remind its employees that any rumors concerning a fleet of pirates, mysterious disappearances of trade or smuggler fleets, and the appearance of new technologies on the "grey market" are to be reported to command when possible.
