Basic Description

Tajaran, plural Tajara, are a humanoid anthropomorphic race most commonly found in Federation Space.

A furred species, the Tajaran are on-par with human intelligence. Commonly resembling the human Felis Catus, the Tajaran show a wide variety of biological variety. Not one Tajran is the same. Although many meow.

The Tajara were one of the first species to join the Federation after they were assisted through a brutal civil war, given liberty and the offer of citizenship.

Tajaran can be split into two major sub-species. The common Tajaran, bred through generations of Tajara living comfortably within the federation, and the Wider Tajran Diaspora, often coming from all corners of the known universe.

Biology

Most Tajara in Federation Space are what are known as the “Common Tajara”. These Tajaran have adapted and evolved over many years to live beside humans. They closely resemble humanity, albeit apart from the ears, tail, fur and feline space.

Common Tajaran tend to stand a little shorter than the average human. For males, the average height is 5’5. For females, 5’2 is the standard height. Fur wise, their appearance can dramatically change from Tajaran to Tajaran. Often seen to inherit from their parents, a Tajaran’s coat is a mix of both the father and mothers patterns respectfully.

Tajara show a disposition to trying many different types of food. Even when not appropriate, a Tajaran will try it, even when it may ultimately lead to stomach issues for The Tajara. Tajarans are known to enjoy foods rich in protein specifically, with their diets leaning towards one full of meat and grain.

Communication and Language

Known officially as “Siik-mas”, colloquially within Terra Space as “Miau”, the native language of the Tajaran is one consisting of a mix of both low “mrrps”, high “meow!”s, and low chirps. The language is especially hard for most humans to understand. Different sounds mean completely different things when considered alongside the associated body language.

Knowing this language involves knowing the Tajara inside and out, including knowing how to mimic the ear and tail movement without either appendages.

Many “Common Tajara” also speak Yangyu: Also known as “Konjin”, A sign of their prevalence of the Terran planet of Mars.

Culture and Connections

The common Tajara are highly integrated into Federal, especially Terran, life. Although many humans may not see them as full citizens on par with their own species, many common Tajara see the humans as simply their own hairless brothers and sisters. In fact within the Martian political system, many Tajara have their own little niches. Holding powerful jobs to earn the richer, higher profile conforms they so desire.

The Tajara find it easy to integrate into both human planets and extra-terrestrial societies. Most enjoy human food and creature comforts such as ‘human pleasures’, food, heat, fun and alcohol. The tradeoff of a capitalism filled job-focused life is nothing compared to the associated pleasures that come with it.

Society

The Federation Tajara are represented at large by the Tajaran Unity Party, TUP for short. The TUP acts first and foremost as a Union, representing Tajaran integration into all walks of space life. Federation Tajara hold a rich presence on the Terran planet of Mars.

The TUP are based within the The Heart, inhabiting their own station within the very core of the federation.. Tajarans are found all over federation space, a notable place being Mars due to the hotter temperature of the planet and the wide abundance of creature comforts.

The Tajara also still live in their home system of Alqita, mainly on the temperate forest planet of Eish.

History

The Federation first came into contact with the Tajara upon their discovery of the Alqita System, the birthplace of the Tajaran.

Tajaran society was originally ruled as a utopian dictatorship by a group known only as the “overseers” on their home planet of Eish. This shadowy group led the Tajara though a period of great prosperity, eventually coalescing in the Tajara achieving interplanetary travel. The overseers moved their main base of operations to the Ice moon, Adhomai.

Upon achieving colonisation of every planet within the Alqita System, the Overseers began to infight about policy, fighting for control of separate planets. With Tajara spread throughout the system, different parties had different thoughts on how Tajarans should live. To stop unrest and fuel their own desires, the Overseers began to separately crack down on the Tajara through Draconian laws. Almost overnight the once free and happy Tajara found themselves stripped of their freedoms. The worst being the formation of the Ice moon Adhomai into a militarised work camp, the sparse ice sheets littered with both barracks and labour camps.

In the initial years many Tajara were not prepared to fight. The average Tajaran lived in such comfort that they had never even used a weapon. Over time this changed. Small cells of resistance gave birth to a full rebellion in a period known as “The Libertas.”

The Libertas had been raging for less than a year when the federation stumbled upon the system, with the revolutionaries on the victory foot. The Overseers, in a last ditch attempt, tried to bribe the arriving Federation forces with riches and power.

In a show of force the Federation feigned interest at first. The desperate overseers lowered the defences to Adhomai. Instead of sending in a diplomat, or a commander, the federation instead dropped shock troopers into Adhomai. The overseers were slaughtered in one brutal act of deposition.

Those loyal to the overseers fled, the rest captured and executed to their crimes against the Tajaran people. The federation then assisted the Tajara in rebuilding, offering to teach them the secrets to faster than light travel in return for their membership to the federation.

The Tajara did not hesitate to accept. Sure, they weren't going to live in a utopia anymore, but they would be free. Those who didn't want to join? They left, forming the Greater Tajaran Diaspora alongside the overseer loyalists who had escaped prior.
