Records

Records serve an important function on-station, coloring your interaction with various departments. Frequently asked questions below.

I'm having trouble making a date for my records. What should I do?

Easy answer? Put a [REDACTED] SCP style.

Hard answer? The current year in-game is always 540 (or so) years ahead of present day. Take your character's age this year, calculate when they turned 18, and simply sprinkle random dates between the two. If you really want to get detailed, find events in your character's background and integrate them into your records, creating a detailed timeline of your character's life through various records.

TBD: Include how to use someone else's medical/security/background records to create an engaging roleplaying experience.

Medical Records

Why should I make these?

Medical records are great to have in-character things to talk about when speaking with a Medical Doctor, or chiefly, a Psychologist. These talk about your character's past medical procedures and health issues-- get creative, the many races in the Spinward likely mean you have ailments unique to you!

Ever tried asking the Doctor to give you a physical? Try it, make them feel special today.

What're Obstetrics?

This means pregnancy in medical terms.

I want to write about my character's medical history, but I can't think of any complications they've had. Help!

You can take details related to your character's racial traits that would cause problems, such as lizards being too susceptible to the cold (hypothermia), or related to background events. If you can't do either of those things, wait until things happen to you in-game, then write about them!

How should I make these?

Generally, your medical records should cover your medical information and history, as well as things you want doctors to know while working on you. Here's an example format for your flavor text.

Security Records

Why should I make these?

Security records generally help color your interactions with Security. Have a background in a gang? Want to tell Security you're dangerous and to go ham? Want to say you're a goodie two-shoes who would never hurt a fly?

Records are a great place for you to do this, but remember-- only include information you want Security to know and use to the fullest. Otherwise, you'd be better off not including it.

I'm having trouble of thinking of past run-ins my character could have had with the law.

Most prisoners are in for minor stuff. Drugs, drinking while under 21, parking tickets, that sort of thing. It doesn't need to be huge to be detailed!

How should I make these?

Generally, your security records should cover things you want Security to know when working with or against you. Concerning records may lead to things like weapons permits not being offered to you, and other difficulties-- while positive records may lead to more positive encounters. Here's an example for your Security records.

General Records

General records detail your character's relevant information, and serves as an equivalent to Medical or Security records for non-specific departments. It's a character profile, the sort of thing that human resources at a job could pull up. It may even be a list of traits.

Like this! You generally have a lot of freedom to work with here, treat it like a records Free Space. You could also include notes about the character's daily routine or activities that are of note.
