The NanoTrasen Representative is the company's way of relaying accurate (and hopefully benign) information to their local relay outposts. As the Representative of the company, it is your job to understand Space Law and policy that may be requested by the other Heads of Staff. This is a desk job, and it is thankless; however, you can be the positive change necessary for the station to fight against tyrants; be it Security or a terrible Captain.
Bare minimum expectations: listen to crew complaints, use your fax judicially, and not use this as an excuse to be Security.
Fax don't care about your feelings, CentCom
In order to use a fax machine, you need (ideally) a well-written paper to convey your ideas.
Whether that is your own design or a pre-formatted document in paperwork repositories, you should make sure to stamp the document at the bottom to confirm your identity, otherwise your document may be tossed aside without being looked at.
Network name: this is the name your fax will show up at on the public network.
Send: these buttons will select who you are going to send your fax to. It's advised to not fax anyone who does not concern the address of your letter.
Important Send Recepients: NT Complaint Department; essentially the only person you will fax. This will send your fax to Central Command for their scrutiny. Provoke them at your own peril.
History: this will show what documents you have, or other people have sent on this machine.
Make sure to remove your paper after you are done sending it! You don't want to end up sending the same letter twice to some already pissed off intern.
Tyranny aboard your Station
This is where you come in. Your job is to be able to mediate the issues of crew members with Heads of Staff; a job that no other duty will tend to be able to do because of their supervision over other sectors of the station. Whether it be a disgruntled dismissee, or a victim of unrightful persecution. Your ties with Central Command allow you to contact them with much more ease than anyone else and right the situation.
If you can record enough evidence of the situation in your relays, you can even topple a Captain right from his throne. The power of your pen is truly mightier than the sword.
However, there is a limit to your capacity as an advisor. Should you overstep this, you may not be listened to by the other Heads of Staff. And given your position in the Chain of Command, no one is inclined to listen to you. Optimally, you should try to get people to agree and compromise rather than going to Central Command to solve all your issues. Constant poking will only incur their ire, and possibly jeopardize your comfortable position within NanoTrasen.
Conclusion
Essentially, you are a roleplay role. Try to make the best out of it! Where other people have higher responsibilities, you have more creative freedom to try and be the world's best workplace advisor! You are not limited to just advising the Captain on how to do their job; you can assist every other person (without taking over their jobs).
