Welcome to the office, Representative. This is where you come in. Your job is to be able to mediate the issues of crew members with Heads of Staff; a job that no other duty will tend to be able to do because of their supervision over other sectors of the station. Whether it be a disgruntled dismissee, or a victim of unrightful persecution. Your ties with Central Command allow you to contact them with much more ease than anyone else and right the situation.
One of your primary jobs as a Representative is to handle the inquiries and complaints that the crew of the station at large may have for the Company or the command staff. Mediating these issues is essential for the purpose of maintaining good faith between the Company and its employees. Given your special status with CentCom and relative lack of bias (except in favor of the Company, of course) you can expedite the resolution of complaints and ensure that no employee finds themselves feeling up corporate creek without a paddle.

If you can record enough evidence of the situation in your relays, you can even topple a Captain right from his throne. The power of your pen is truly mightier than the sword.

It is not likely, but certainly possible that a Head of Staff, or even the Captain, may overstep the boundaries of their authority as defined in the Corporate Regulations. In these situations, it becomes your duty to gather evidence and testimony of their misgivings, and inform Central Command, so a proper inquiry into their activities can be conducted, and if necessary, the offending command staff replaced.

However, there is a limit to your capacity as an advisor. Should you overstep this, you may not be listened to by the other Heads of Staff. And given your position in the [[Chain of Command]], no one is inclined to listen to you. Optimally, you should try to get people to agree and compromise rather than going to Central Command to solve all your issues. Constant poking will only incur their ire, and possibly jeopardize your comfortable position within NanoTrasen.

More than anything else, Nanotrasen Representative is intended as a '''roleplay role.''' You are expected to make the most of your resources to further the roleplay environment. Where other people have higher responsibilities, you have more creative freedom to try and be the world's best workplace advisor! You are not limited to just advising the Captain on how to do their job; you can assist every other person (without taking over their jobs). So put on a good smile for the Company, and show Nanotrasen in its best light, Representative.

YOUR LOADOUT

Welcome to the office, Representative. You have been selected (or volunteered, God help you) to leave the secure comforts of Central Command and act as the face of The Company’s interests on the frontier. It is, admittedly, a thankless desk job with the added perk of likely assassination attempts against you by unruly staff or Enemies of the Corporation. In order to ease the pains of the position however, Nanotrasen does issue you a few defensive measures in order to buy you time to get to the fax machine.

  1. Allstar SC-2 energy carbine, with stun and kill firing modes.
  2. Armored exclusive officer’s coat, holds your weapon and offers moderate protection.
  3. Your CentCom headset has a CentCom frequency shared between you, the Blueshield, and your superiors at Central Command. This frequency does not rely on telecoms.

The Fax Machine is your lifeline to the outside world while on the station, and therefore is the most valuable weapon in your arsenal as a Representative. It is, however, an ammunition-hungry weapon, and is best fed only the finest, most succinct and well-written paper documents to convey your reports, ideas or other pleas for intervention.

Whether that is your own design or a pre-formatted document in paperwork repositories, you should make sure to stamp the document at the bottom to confirm your identity, otherwise your document may be tossed aside without being looked at.

The fax machine interface will show you a large number of potential entities to fax.

The only entity you should usually be faxing as a Nanotrasen Representative is the Central Command fax, often denoted as “NT Complaint Department”, “NT Internal Affairs Dept”, “NT Legal Dept” or similar.  Sending your fax to foreign nations, other corporations, the IRS and other such bodies may result in a lack of response or UNUSUAL INTERVENTION.

Less likely, if you find yourself needing to perform mass bureaucracy within station confines, you can also fax the station’s numerous, own fax machines. Each department and Head of Staff usually has one.

TYRANNY OF THE MASSES

One of your primary jobs as a Representative is to handle the inquiries and complaints that the crew of the station at large may have for the Company or the command staff. Mediating these issues is essential for the purpose of maintaining good faith between the Company and its employees. Given your special status with CentCom and relative lack of bias (except in favor of the Company, of course) you can expedite the resolution of complaints and ensure that no employee finds themselves feeling up corporate creek without a paddle.

TYRANNY OF THE FEW

It is not likely, but certainly possible that a Head of Staff, or even the Captain, may overstep the boundaries of their authority as defined in the Corporate Regulations. In these situations, it becomes your duty to gather evidence and testimony of their misgivings, and inform Central Command, so a proper inquiry into their activities can be conducted, and if necessary, the offending command staff replaced.

CONCLUSION

More than anything else, Nanotrasen Representative is intended as a roleplay role. You are expected to make the most of your resources to further the roleplay environment.
