This is a list of default keybindings and controls. You can rebind many of them with the Custom Keybindings menu in-game.

Humans and Other Carbon-based Lifeforms' Hotkeys

Hotkey-mode Enabled

Hotkey-mode can be toggled on by pressing Tab. Many hotkeys can be reassigned through Game Preferences -> Custom Keybindings. This must be done on every server, as keybindings aren't shared between them.

  • WASD = Move your character
  • Z, Pg Dn, or Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. on held object = Activate your held object
  • Q or Home = Drop item held in the active hand
  • E = Equip item held in the active hand
  • X or Pg Up = Swap active hands Hands
  • G = Offer the item held in your active hand to all adjacent mobs
    • Ctrl + Shift + Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. = Offer the item held in your active hand only to the clicked mob
  • R or hold Space or = Toggle Throw (you can catch thrown objects while Throw is active and your active hand is empty)
  • B or = Resist / Unbuckle yourself / Stop, drop, and roll while on fire
  • T = Say text in-character (IC)
  • O = Say test out-of-character (OOC) in global chat. Consider unbinding it if you fear accidentally saying IC things OOC.
  • M = Emote in-character. You are also able to bind game emotes to custom hotkeys.
  • 4 = Enable Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people.
  • 1 = Disable Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people.
  • F = Toggle Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people.
  • Hold C = Switch between run/walk mode. Returns to original setting when released.
  • Hold Alt = Blocks your movement, letting you change the direction your character is facing.
  • H or Del or = Stop Pulling
  • U or = Rest/lay down. You can crawl while laying down.
  • Shift + B = Put in hand item into backpack, or take out last item put into backpack.
  • Shift + E = Put in hand item into belt or belt slot, or take out last item put into belt.
  • Shift + Q = Put in hand item into suit storage slot, or take out last item put into suit storage slot.
  • Numpad keys = Used for selecting a bodypart to target. The keys correspond to location on the target doll:

Any Mode

  • = Move your character.

  • Ctrl + Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. = Pull an object or person you're standing next to.
  • While pulling something, Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. an adjacent floor tile with an empty hand = Move the pulled object to the targeted tile, if possible.
  • End = Toggle throwing mode.
  • F12 = Toggle between full HUD, minimal HUD, and no HUD.
  • Tab = Toggle Hotkey-mode.
  • Esc = Stops you from being stuck moving in one direction (due to lag or other issues).
  • Alt + Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. can do a variety of things depending on what you are aiming at. For example:
    • A tile = Open a dropdown menu of a list of all the items currently on that tile.
    • A PDA/Tablet = Remove the ID (or pen if there's no id) from the PDA/tablet.
    • Clothing = Toggles any possible aesthetic settings (breath mask up/down, rolling down jumpsuit, buttons labcoat, flip baseball cap etc).
    • A bag/container = Opens the container. Also works on things that are in another container.
    • A chem dispenser, chemical heater, ChemMaster 3000 or PanD.E.M.I:C = Ejects any loaded beaker.
    • A vent or scrubber (if able to "ventcrawl") = Crawl into the pipes. Monkeys, slimes, and several other creatures can do this.
  • Ctrl + Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. a PDA = Take out pen. Hold Shift as well to take out the cartridge.
  • Ordinary right-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. a locker = Locks or unlocks the locker.

Other Humanoid Controls

These are actions you can perform which require other methods than hotkeys.

  • Ordinary right-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. your jumpsuit = Change suit sensor mode.
  • Ordinary right-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. a stacked item = Split stack.
  • Hold CTRL and left-click a person with your hand empty. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or off. Repeat after a short delay to upgrade grab to aggressive (lvl 2), neck (lvl 3) and strangling (lvl 4). yourself while aiming for bleeding limb = Grasp your bodypart to slightly reduce blood flow. If arm is bleeding, must use other arm.
  • Hold CTRL and left-click a person with your hand empty. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or off. Repeat after a short delay to upgrade grab to aggressive (lvl 2), neck (lvl 3) and strangling (lvl 4). a small animal and then click-drag the animal to yourself = Scoop up the animal. Doesn't work on all animals.
  • Ordinary right-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. a target while holding a container with liquid = Splash the target with the liquid.
  • Turn on Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. and then right-click. a cyborg or medibot = Tip or untip it.
  • Click-drag. Click-dragging can produce a variety of effects depending on what/who you have clicked and what/who you are dragging to. For example:
    • A person to yourself = Opens the other person's inventory, where you can add or remove worn objects and also toggle their internals on or off.
      • ...while prone = Untie their shoelaces, jerk.
    • Yourself to a table = Attempt to climb the table. Careful, someone can Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. the table to push you away.
    • A bag/container onto another bag/container = Attempts to move all contents of the first bag to the other.
    • A person to yourself while you have them in an aggressive Hold CTRL and left-click a person with your hand empty. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or off. Repeat after a short delay to upgrade grab to aggressive (lvl 2), neck (lvl 3) and strangling (lvl 4). = Fireman carry them.
      • While fireman-carrying a person: Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. a table = Place them (if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. on: violently) on the table.
    • Yourself to a person while they have you in an aggressive Hold CTRL and left-click a person with your hand empty. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or off. Repeat after a short delay to upgrade grab to aggressive (lvl 2), neck (lvl 3) and strangling (lvl 4). = Piggyback ride them.

Hotkeys for the AI

  • Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off.   • Ctrl + 0...9 = Saves your current camera location.
  • 0...9 = Jumps camera to saved camera location. Tilde and zero will return you to the last spot you jumped from.

Hotkeys for the AI and Cyborgs

Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. an airlock = Bolts down/up, preventing the airlock from opening or closing depending on when the bolts were dropped.
  • Ctrl + Shift + Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. an airlock = Emergency access toggle, turning off access restrictions in emergencies so that anyone may open the airlock.
  • Alt + Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. an airlock = Electrify on/off, potentially causing significant Burn damage and a lengthy stun for the unprotected.
  • Ctrl + Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. an APC = Power on/off.

Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. a Turret Control = Lethal/stun mode.

Cyborg Hotkey-mode Enabled

  • Cyborgs share most basic hotkeys and controls that humanoids have. You must not have a module active to be able to open lockers, unbuckle people from chairs, and such with your Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not.. Remember, however, that you do not have hands so you cannot pick up most objects.

Cyborg specific hotkeys:

  • X = Cycle active modules
  • 1 = Activate first module
  • 2 = Activate second module
  • 3 = Activate third module
  • Q = Unequip module

Other Cyborg Controls

  • Click-drag. Click-drag a humanoid to self
    • Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. On = Opens the interact/inventory window of the target.
    • Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. Off = Buckles target to self.
  • Ordinary left-click. It doesn't matter if Combat Mode Enable with 4, disable with 1 or toggle with F by default. Left-clicking people with an empty hand will Harm them if on, or Help them if off. Prevents you from switching places or being pushed when colliding with people. is on or not. yourself without an active module (or Resist) = Unbuckles person from self.
  • Use *spin emote with someone buckled to you = Forcefully throws the buckled person forward, which stuns them (even if they didn't hit anything).
