Also known as: What is Bubberstation about?

Our goal is to create an SS13 experience where antags show up continuously throughout the shift. Players should be able to have a say in a round's direction, however the presence of antagonists and the chaos they cause is non-negotiable.

Interaction, both positive and negative, between station departments should be encouraged wherever possible and reasonable.

It is the duty of the event managers and staff to ensure that these events are never over-- or underwhelming for our player-base. Through this, we will achieve our goal:

to achieve a fun experience where:

  • Characters and conflict drive roleplay, and
  • staff intervention is minimally necessary.

Expectations

With that said, there are four main things we expect of our playerbase.

Roleplay,

where players play their role to the best of their knowledge and ability, as a reasonable and well-thought out character who wants to keep their job and life.

Examples of failing to meet this expectation are:

Including egregious references to media or memes in flavor-text,

Making the station uninhabitable,

and respawning as the same character after they're supposed to have died. (Exceptions may be applied by admins)

Cooperation

where players not only play the game for themselves, but for others in the round as well, as well as supporting the server as a whole in creating the ideal environment for roleplay.

Examples of failing to meet this expectation are:

Interrupting a private RP scene without strong justification (you should ask to reroll your objectives),

stealing from people who are SSD,

or self-antagging excessively. (If everyone's an antagonist, then no one is.)

Intent

where players not only follow the letter of the rules, but the spirit. They try to be the ideal player they'd like to see play the server, even if that means sacrificing some of their own personal experience to do so.

Act like the player you want to see play here, and put yourselves in other players' shoes where possible.

Examples of failing to meet this expectation are:

Breaking the rules just because others have done so,

Make a character who is likely to break the rules to try to get around in-character justification,

Toeing the line when it comes to the rules: we want the rules to be the minimum standard, you should try to go above and beyond as much as possible.

Moderation

where while the rules may be in place, all of the players understand that at the end of the day, we are all human. If someone apologizes and shows remorse, and especially if they change their ways, they should be forgiven. Likewise, players shouldn't be a hardass about IC situations OOC.

Examples of failing to meet this expectation are:

Holding others to an unreasonable standard of conduct (especially if you do not hold yourself to that same standard),

Validhunting and generally being a hardass to those making a good-faith attempt to roleplay,

And just generally being a dick. Be kind.

At the end of the day, we can't make a rule for every little infraction, although the rules will always be here. The staff's role is to maintain these expectations in the player-base to the best of their ability, whether through the rules or through playing the game and lifting others up.

So, generally everything here will be used as a framework to decide whether or not what you did should be actioned on, and how severely it'll be treated. If you feel you've been doing great with regards to these things, make an appeal! Our staff are always willing to listen.

(Also don't break Discord ToS, no illegal things, etc.)
